On the outside, hand-applied wood overlays, plus an optional tongue-and-groove base, deliver that unmistakable carriage house style. The details set these doors apart: three-panel section construction allows for larger, authentic window openings, while a unique one-piece drip cap protects against moisture by keeping water away from grooved overlays. True divided windows come standard for that handcrafted look. Premium-grade hardware and tracks keep operation smooth and quiet, and a replaceable vinyl bottom seal (with optional aluminum retainer) blocks out the elements at the base. Why would I choose a natural wood door over Canyon Ridge faux wood?

Natural wood has unlimited opportunities to create a one-of-a-kind design with texture and grain pattern details unlike any other material. However, wood requires regular surface maintenance to protect it from moisture and termites.

You can get the look and feel of wood with less upkeep from a faux wood composite door. The boards are molded from pieces of Mahogany or Clear Cypress to replicate the grain pattern and texture, and the door can be painted or stained. The door is constructed with a three-layer polyurethane insulated core for maximum energy-efficiency.

Both doors are stunning. Some people may prefer the natural variations that only occur in real wood.

Can I get a custom stain color on a Reserve Wood door? What is the process?

Custom stain colors are available on any of our doors that are not listed as paint grade only. Typically, a customer would send us a small sample of the color of stain that they want us to match, and we create the match on whatever species of wood they desire. We send the sample to the customer for final approval.
