How It’s Made: Classic™ Steel
The Classic™ Steel garage door is designed to handle daily use while looking great for years to come. You can choose from single-, double-, or triple-layer construction, with every option starting with high-quality steel for reliable strength. For insulation, pick either Intellicore® polyurethane—Clopay’s advanced foam that expands to fill the door for maximum energy efficiency and durability—or opt for solid polystyrene panels that add comfort and quiet.
The exterior steel panels are protected by a multi-layer coating system, including hot-dipped galvanizing, a special metal oxide pretreatment, and a baked-on primer and topcoat, all working together to keep rust away and the finish looking sharp. Maintenance is easy, with a replaceable vinyl bottom seal in a rust-resistant aluminum retainer blocking out water and drafts, and removable window grilles for simple cleaning.
Safety comes built in, too, thanks to the patented Safe-T-Bracket® that helps prevent injury during maintenance. Insulated models also include smooth, quiet nylon rollers and heavy-duty steel hinges, so your door works smoothly every day.

What is the difference between the Elegant and the Traditional panel design?
The Elegant design has decorative panel edging and is available on Premium insulated door designs. The Traditional panel does not have this edging detail and is offered on the Value and Value Plus models.
